New study says plant-based foods help prevent cancer.

Researchers from the University of Minnesota Hormel Institute now admit that plant-based foods are highly beneficial in helping to prevent cancer, particularly among those who have the highest risk of developing the disease. Published in the journal Nature Reviews Cancer, their study says that plant phytochemicals — which include powerful nutrients and antioxidants like selenium, resveratrol, beta-carotene, and lycopene, — are a viable option in cancer prevention. MSNBC poll: Nearly everyone supports mandatory GMO labeling .

A recent MSNBC Health poll that asked the question, “Do you believe genetically modified foods should be labeled?” concluded with overwhelming public support for transparency in food labeling. Nearly 90 percent of respondents, representing more than 9,000 votes, answered “Yes. It’s an ethical issue — consumers should be informed so they can make a choice.” Continue reading
